I just got an e-mail from the WM saying that there would be an audio message from Ritchie on the 29th. I'm so afraid it isn't good news...

on my mind:
A controversial drama about Britain's binge-drinking culture, mostly shot in Wigan, is due to be aired this weekend. Legless, to be shown on Channel Four on Sunday at 10.45pm, was filmed on King Street over three weeks this summer. The 90-minute drama was written and directed by Matt Greenhalgh of Red Productions, creator of the hit series Burn It. Matt says the show is not meant to be literally interpreted as a reflection of a single town, but represents a typical city or town centre on a Friday night. He said: "We had a brilliant time filming in Wigan. I used to go down King Street all the time, a lot of my mates are from Pemberton – I remember we always went into The Turnkey. What a place! "We looked all over the North and found that Wigan was the best place to shoot it." Much of the action in the show was filmed in June and July during normal King Street opening times. Matt said: "We thought it would be different and interesting not to work on a closed set. "The people you see in the background of the show are all out enjoying their Friday or Saturday nights. "They were fantastic toward us – everyone enjoyed being on the shoot." The drama exposes the good and bad effects of alcohol through the experiences of a group of very different characters, including first-time boozers taking full advantage of Happy Hour, a young couple in need of a bit of Dutch courage to make the first move, to weary paramedics patching up the results. "The show doesn't hide the reality of what can happen during a night out. "I'm not trying to push the problems of alcohol under the carpet. I don't think it should be seen as a poor reflection of the town or the people of Wigan – I love the place." Matt says the show is aimed at provoking an intelligent debate. He said: "What we see on Britain's streets is a direct result of a dirty, semi-prohibitive relationship with alcohol. "We seem to think it's dirty, that it should be hidden away. "I like it when the Government gives me freedom over what I can or cannot do. "I like it when the Government empowers me and treats me like a grown-up who can make his own choices. "Personally I believe that it will be two or three years before we see the end of this 'neck 10 pints as fast as you can' binge-drinking culture."
should be interesting to watch...see how many of em i know...prolly a lot actually, which is quite sad really...considering i was walking by there around then...doubt i'll be on it though, i never venture down king street after dark...too scary... the last time i did was in june, when me and vicki ran down there to get some free balloons they were handing out outside of Jumping Jaks...oh well...
