:-/This seems to be turning out to be a real fuss....On one hand, I reeeeeally want to hear Ritchie's music, as does every other fan out there, especially since who knows when/if he'll actually ever release a cd. But on the other had, \ downloading mp3's is completely illegal. And it's a shame that there are people out there who ripped his music from here and posted it else where on the internet, when all others needed to do to hear it was join this site...It's a shame. As for Ritchie being a "hypocrite" that's kind of harsh. Think about it, if you made music that you intended on releasing at some point, how would it make you feel if everyone got a hold of it before you released it? And although the "true" fans WOULD go out and buy the cd/single/anything remotely related to Ritchie there are the people out there who will just download it and never buy the cds because there's no point in 'wasting' the money on it. As far as I can guess right now, Ritchie’s still plans on releasing all these song and it would terrible to hurt his career by jumping the gun and downloading anything he's nice enough to allow the webmaster to share. But if in a while he's still not releasing anything or decides not to release anything then it's a lose for the fans who miss out on hearing terrific music. This is a hard subject. It would be a lot easier to say "no downloading MP3's is bad" if Ritchie had an album out or was going to release one in a time that we knew, but he's not. But it's still illegal, and I'd personally rather not do anything that might affect Ritchie negatively as far as wanting to release something. Sorry, that's just my thoughts on this.

I can understand if he had an album out or a single....but what about that 1 time where Rita had put up those 5ive mp3s that where "rare" to find? I know some of them could have been found on cds, because i've seen them before...Just as well, we all could have bought those cds to "support" Five but no....tell me, how many of you downloaded the song "The Heat" because it was on the UK version of Kingsize that YOU didnt have. or 12345, that wason the CTM single? Beacause it wasnt in your country? Sure 5ive arent around anymore, but thats still money to them right? because they actually had a record deal and whereon a label, HOWEVER Ritchie isnt signed to a label,or even has a single out .So its just as if, one of us made some song, and put it up on our site, the accused people of stealing it when they where downloadingit to listen. Point is, sure its wrong...but how many of us can say that they have NEVER downloaded an mp3 before illegally? Infact I don't see how it is illegal, when no one is trying to sell it, and make money off of it, people just wanna hear it *shrugs* I doubt any of us will be standing on a corner trying to sell his "Wasted" song for money. and YES that does make him a hypocrate if he does it. Besides...seems people are missing the point. People on here have already heard it before we did. Meaning, somehow who ever "Shared" it first, shared it with someone else who they "trusted" and that some how got on the net.

Well, illegal file sharing is still-whether we like it or not- an offense. Check this out: www.himclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=14573*shrug* Personally, I think it's understandable- we all make our own choices and for whatever reasons, illegal file sharing, copyright issues with his co writers or whatever, Ritchie/his management/whomever have chosen to just have clips up and not full songs to download. Tough.

You know some of the people talking about [that are against this] illegal mp3 in this discussion are the same ones who have downloaded the song. So I'm taking it that you've never heard the entire song before (or even if you had) your saying will not download the song to your computer for your own personal use and listen to it since your against mp3's?? You've never download an mp3 ever than?

You've never download an mp3 ever than? Don't know if you mean me, but indeed I haven't. I am into a VERY alternative music scene in the Netherlands (that is, neo-folk) and HAVE to support the artists I like to make sure they can provide for their children&c. In that light, I have made this concious choice not to download mp3s, regardless of the fact whether the artist is big or not. Just a choice I made.

As an artist, Ritchie understands what downloading mp3s means. He also buys or already owns the music he has downloaded. He doesn't know how to convert his owned cd tracks (usually .cda files) to mp3s but I'm going to show him how soon. It's not very hard, as most of you know.
Any Five mp3's that I put up were with permission from the guys or BMG. They usually give their OK if they think it will enhance sales or add marketing value to the artist. They usually only allow it for "B side" songs (non-single releases) & foreign add-ons. Sometimes artists offer up unreleased (and they never will be) mp3 songs as a treat for their fans.
I'm sure almost everyone has downloaded an mp3 illegally. Just because it is a very popular crime doesn't make it legal. My husband used to be a police detective. He drove without his seat-belt a few times (a crime here), coasted thru a few stop signs in his day and has several times driven to work without his licence (he accidently left it at home). Does this make him a hypocrite for breaking the very laws he enforced? Strictly speaking it does, but we're all human too. You do the best you can on a daily basis and don't beat yourself up over the occasional small slip. But in the same vein, if you get caught doing it, you know you did wrong and have to take your lumps.

Honestly...and call me stupid, I dont understand what the problem is here. Fact is, he hasnt released it, he's not gonna make money off it, because no one is buying the friggen song! Why? IT HASNT BEEN RELEASED. If he was starting out, and had a career going, and a record label, and these songs leaked, then fine thats a problem...fact is, he hasnt. And why couldnt this be a good thing? Good promotion, way i see it, Five have been gone for a while, alot of bands have come and gone since then. So, wouldnt he want to put him self out there again? Start getting people to remember who he is?

Its easy to tell someone else to share their property for free. What Ritchie does with what he owns is not a decision for anyone else to make. He may eventually chose to let it go, but for now, he hasn't.
